Greeting cards are outdated

I have received numerous e-greetings this year than I ever thought possible. I actually decided to post this blog with this title because for the past two weeks I have received only four Christmas greeting cards by regular mail. My constant trips to my mail box has been non productive for the past one week. Everyone seems to have suddenly decided to cash in on the new trend of e-greeting.
Personally as a writer, I think this is not a bad idea. I also think that rather than buy all those purposeless gifts for less than enthusiastic recipients, we writers should give a "Written gift". I know as a matter of fact that many people appreciate reading a poem, a word of encouragement or a sentimental note from a friend or loved one. Such written words carry far more sentimental values than the scribbled words of a total stranger whose aim is to make a buck or two.
Writers have been blessed with a gift that they can give without it costing them a dime.
I suggest adding some unique elements like pictures, colorful designs or clip art to your written piece.
The sky is the limit to what you can do with your writing skill.
